18/02/2025
Press release

Modernized Mediterranean meals require innovative packaging that preserves quality, extends shelf-life, and reduces environmental impact. WP3 addresses this need by developing eco-friendly, bio-based, and active packaging solutions tailored to MEDIET4ALL food products.

Objectives of WP4

WP4 aims to:

  • Build a multicenter database of traditional and modern Mediterranean recipes (linked to WP2 outputs).

  • Create a database of Mediterranean food producers, including smallholders, local processors, restaurants, and SMEs.

  • Develop resilient, multicenter MEDIET supply chains connecting producers, processors, and distributors.

  • Structure databases of MEDIET and MedLifestyle interventions in synergy with WP1 and WP5.

Approach

Led by the National School of Agriculture of Meknes (ENA Meknes), WP4 combines field-based engagement, data management, and digital integration. Key activities include:

  • On-site visits and stakeholder engagement to mobilise producers and providers.

  • Development of interoperable databases feeding into the MEDIET4ALL digital ecosystem.

  • Promotion of short supply chains, transparency, and traceability.

  • Coordination with WP5 to integrate data into the centralised mobile platform and Smart Coach.

This approach ensures supply chains are scientifically validated, digitally connected, and culturally rooted.

Key achievements

  • Established multicenter databases for recipes, producers, and interventions.

  • Developed resilient and traceable Mediterranean supply chains.

  • Mobilised a strong network of stakeholders through field visits, fairs, and professional events.

  • Enhanced international visibility via partnerships and Agro-pôle Olivier platforms.
