Looking Back | Toward a Regional Olive Oil Tasting Panel in Fès-Meknès
Training on olive oil sensory analysis in Fès-Meknès, strengthening expertise and panel calibration for quality and international recognition under MEDIET4ALL.
From 5 to 9 January 2026, the Course on Sensory Analysis of Virgin Olive Oil was successfully held at the Agro-pôle Olivier ENA Meknès, within the École Nationale d’Agriculture de Meknès – marking an important milestone for the olive oil sector in the Fès-Meknès region.
This initiative was proudly sponsored by the MEDIET4ALL Project, reaffirming the project’s commitment to strengthening quality, expertise, and sustainability across Mediterranean agri-food value chains.
Fully aligned with Morocco’s Generation Green 2020-2030 strategy, the course contributes to reinforcing the strategic positioning of the Fès-Meknès region in the development of a competitive and quality-driven olive oil sector.
The training brought together academic institutions, public authorities, and international development programs around a shared objective: laying the foundations for the accreditation of a Regional Olive Oil Tasting Panel, in accordance with the standards of the International Olive Council.
Organized through the joint efforts of the Agro-pôle Olivier ENA Meknès, UM6P’s Innovation & Entrepreneurship Lab, the TAGDev 2.0 Program, CBI | Transforming Trade Together – AnMOON, and the Regional Directorate of Agriculture of Fès-Meknès – and delivered by International Olive Council experts – the course focused on:
- Strengthening sensory evaluation expertise
- Enhancing panel calibration capacity
- Ensuring methodological rigor aligned with international standards
