In May, the MEDIET4ALL project took part in two public engagement events in Dijon, France, helping to bring research closer to students and citizens through interactive discussions and hands-on science communication activities.

Inspiring Future Scientists at the Chemistry Olympiads

On 20 May, MEDIET4ALL researcher Clément Poulain (University of Burgundy) participated in the regional Chemistry Olympiads, welcoming nearly 100 high school students from across Burgundy.

Throughout the afternoon, students had the opportunity to discover the world of scientific research and learn more about the objectives and activities of the MEDIET4ALL project. Special attention was given to research on sustainable food packaging, while also introducing participants to the broader challenges addressed by the project, including the promotion of healthier and more sustainable food systems inspired by the Mediterranean Lifestyle.

The event provided a valuable opportunity to engage with young people and raise awareness about the role of research and innovation in shaping the future of food.

MEDIET4ALL at the Night of Museums

A few days later, on 23 May, MEDIET4ALL joined the Night of Museums in Dijon, one of the city’s most popular cultural events.

Set in the prestigious Hall of the Tombs of the Dukes of Burgundy within the Museum of Fine Arts, researchers surprised visitors by bringing science into an unexpected setting. Throughout the evening, short interactive workshops allowed participants to discover ongoing research projects and discuss topics related to food, sustainability and innovation.

From 8 p.m. until midnight, visitors joined small-group sessions every ten minutes, creating a continuous dialogue between researchers and the public. The event offered a unique opportunity to showcase MEDIET4ALL’s work beyond academic circles and demonstrate how research can contribute to addressing everyday challenges related to health, nutrition and sustainability.

Science for Everyone

These two events reflect MEDIET4ALL’s commitment to making scientific knowledge accessible to all audiences. By engaging directly with students, families and citizens, the project helps foster a better understanding of research and its contribution to healthier and more sustainable lifestyles.

We warmly thank all participants and look forward to continuing these outreach activities across the MEDIET4ALL community.
