Tasting the Future of the Mediterranean Diet: Mediet4all Meets in Dijon
Let’s strengthen research collaborations!
Consortium Meeting in Dijon
The consortium members met in Dijon to discuss the progress of the project. The meetings were held on the campus of the University Burgundy Europe, notably at the IUT-Dijon (Institute of Technology). After a brief introduction by the consortium coordinator, the research results were presented in relation to the comprehensive questionnaire proposed by Mediet4all. The German research team identified various parameters and factors that have a significant impact on health in the context of a Mediterranean diet. These parameters will be used in our « app » to accurately define user profiles and the measures appropriate for them. Thanks to this, we are confident that the programmes offered to those wishing to try the Mediterranean diet will be perfectly suited to their needs within our app.
Mediet4all App Presentation
Speaking of it, the proof of concept for this application was presented during the meetings in Dijon. The application will be ready very soon, and you will also be able to discover and use it. Please feel free to give us your feedback to help us improve once again!
Normally, the first version of the application will also be equipped with safety features to prevent various eating disorders that are usually caused by diets and are not taken into account by most of the current applications on the market.
Activities and Collaborations in Dijon
After a busy day of discussions, various activities were planned both in the city centre and with industrial partners in order to develop new collaborations. The following day, the hosts of the meeting (the Dijon team working on food packaging) explained their manufacturing process for the sustainable and boactive packaging developed for this European project. The optimisation of various food packaging solutions is still ongoing and should be completed by the end of the year, using technologies already in use in the industry like spray coating, surface treatments etc…
Creation of the Nutritional Database
In order to ensure the application is completed, a highly specific database must be created. Our partners working on nutrition, health and food have reviewed each of the selected recipes in order to improve them as much as possible. In particular, tests have been carried out on the potential allergies caused by Mediterranean food products along with their benefits for health.
Future Plans and Calls for Participation
Expect to hear from us very soon ! We are preparing several national and international events or workshops. The aim is to communicate directly with you, consumers and citizens, as it was the case during one of our recent events with the University of Mainz. Improving recipes on paper is not enough. Now we need your feedback so we can hear it directly from you! Improving a recipe is all well and good, but improving its taste is even better! Thanks to our work and our mediterranean area and European collaboration, we are here to help consumer to eat better while avoiding various allergies and adapting to your needs via our application. If you are interested in becoming a partner, industrial, NGO, etc. , please do not hesitate to contact us ([email protected]). We have also launched an online questionnaire/survey on future collaborations, so please feel free to fill it out (https://mediet4all.eu/news/e-platform/).
